Lucy Maud Montgomery's son, Dr. Stuart MacDonald, discovered this unpublished manuscript of 14 stories among his mother's papers. It bore the title, "The Blythes Are Quoted" and was divided into two parts, each part composed of a narrative introduction describing an evening in the Blythe family home in Avonlea when they would sit around and listen to stories and poems. Only one poem has been kept in this publication, but all the stories. This book becomes an enlargement, a filling-out of the Anne stories and the backgrounds for Lucy Maud's other books.
